Andrey Treyvish, Doctor of Geographical Sciences


Developed the concept of universal and unique characteristics of the spatial development of Russia, examined the major structural, demographic, urban, and economic transitions, and their geographical embodiment. In his works, he builds a coherent framework of research — "World — Nation — Province — City. He studies the territorial structure of production, problems of old industrial and metropolitan regions, growth poles and depressed areas, effects of urbanization on conditions of Russian cities. He is a Chairman of the Dissertation Council for the specialty "Economic, social, political and recreational geography". At the Institute since 1978.
