According to the topomorphological classification of land transport networks and their evolution trends in different countries, regions and cities, the basic processes of network development are dendronization, cycle formation and emergence of basic frameworks.. The main growth trend is increasing complexity of network topological structure (treelike network, network without cycles, cyclic core network with a backbone and several topological tiers). The collapse of a network sees the same stages in the reverse order (e.g. cyclic network can become a network-tree). Natural barriers in the territory are the main causes of the spatial inhomogeneity of the evolution of transport networks. Phenomenon of spatial (topological) isomorphism of the structure of transport networks of countries, regions and cities has been discovered. Invariant stages of transport infrastructure development have been identified.
